A brilliantly summer day – with only a hint of clouds. Phil led a five mile walk and had some work to do cutting back the amazing growth from the recent heavy rains. When the walkers returned there was a lunch of bread, cheese, quiche and salads. Peter and Steve had set up the games – bowls, boules (petanc) and croquet. A perfect time for chatting, lazing and trying our hand at throwing balls (with or without a curve !) or hitting them with the mallets. All exhausting work - so tea and home- made cakes to finish were welcome.
Many thanks to Hilary for starting this tradition, to all who cooked, prepared and put away and to those who walked and played ! A very enjoyable English event.
