Newmarket Ramblers

Guided walks in the Newmarket area

Late Spring Bank Holiday Monday 29th May 2017.

We rarely have walks programmed for Bank Holidays, but this joint initiative by the three Parish Councils gives us the opportunity to take part in a 10 mile circular walk, starting at 10.00am from Ousden Village Hall Car Park and walking clockwise via Lidgate and Dalham, where ‘facilities’ will be available at the Village Halls. The three pubs on the route are also expected to be open for refreshment, but not early in the day. In any case, a picnic lunch is recommended, as on any other longer walk.

The route is way-marked and will be mainly on public rights of way, well known to many of us, but will also include a couple of ‘permissive’ stretches which, I understand, will remain open to walkers ‘after the day’.

Walkers will be able to go at their own pace and not, necessarily, walk en masse. Should 10 miles be outside your comfort zone, why not arrange for a car to be left, with courtesy, somewhere along the route? For the record, it is about 2 ½ miles from Ousden to Lidgate, nearly all downhill, and 6 miles to Dalham, with the final 4 miles back to Ousden, initially, being a steady ascent.  For further details please contact Phil Prigg  This email address is being protected from spambots.
